Advanced Multi-Omics Technology Division

Japanese

The Advanced Multi-Omics Technology Division at the RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences (IMS) has established a robust research support framework encompassing multi-layered omics analysis-including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and lipidomics/metabolomics-as well as high-precision structural analysis using cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and NMR, and dedicated support for cellular functions, laboratory animals, and protein production. Through these capabilities, we generate high-quality, homogeneous data on structures and dynamics at the molecular, cellular, and tissue levels, while constructing analytical infrastructure and support systems for effective data utilization.

Leveraging these world-class platforms, the division drives two core collaborative initiatives: the Spatial Omics Collaborative Project and the Data Informatics Collaborative Project. By integrating spatial information that captures individual cellular behaviors with the massive datasets they generate through data science, we elucidate "multi-organ, multi-layered, and time-series" biological phenomena at every level. Our ultimate goal is to achieve an integrated understanding of the mechanisms of life, spanning from molecules and cells to organs and entire organisms.
